Help me streamline scanning process for mixtures of documents?

    browniebodrum Community Member

Greetings, Acrobat experts!  I'm using an HP Deskjet F340 All-in-One with Win7 Ultimate, HP's Solution Center software and/or Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro (9.4.6)  (using the WIA option, not the TWAIN option, although I've also experimented with the latter to no avail regarding this particular issue). I'm mainly scanning (to pdf) household paperwork, such as brochures, statements and correspondence. To save time, I want to preview and adjust the scan area/size, resolution, type (mono, greyscale, colour) and then, having checked the first page comes out ok, I just want the scanner to just keep on using the same size/area/resolution/darkness/contrast etc etc settings for subsequent pages until I change them again for the next job. I've tried reading the help files both for Acrobat and for HP's Solution Center and playing about with settings in both, but I just can't seem to streamline this process. If I configure the presets in Adobe, for example, for grayscale document, I still have to preview and select the size/area (again!) for each additional page, or fiddle with the darkness/contrast for each individual page if they are too faint. I'd be really grateful if someone could point me in the right direction as I'd like to resume a life outside of household admin...  Thanks for reading!

          Hi,

Thanks for posting your query. I am glad to tell you that all the features you mentioned (scan size/resolution/color mode) are retained for the presets we provide. But unfortunately, we do not provide the area selection. However there is an option to select the area by cropping. I would advise you to scan all the pages in one go and then select the area to crop.

I would like to tell you that while scanning with hide scanner interface, we overwrite the scanner settings with the settings you provide in our Scan dialog. The aim while making this feature was to provide user the simplicity to have all the settings pre-stored in preset and then invoking scan by just one click using saved preset.

Regarding brightness and contrast, I am sorry but we do not provide these features but you do have filters which can enhance the quality of your document and text. To try out these filters, please click on "Options" button in Optimize Scanned PDF pane.

I hope I have addressed your issue.

I appreciate the time you've taken to reply, but it doesn't actually move me forward...  Scanning the entire bed area every time and then cropping at the end just takes even longer.  Hopefully someone doing the same task will read my post and share with me how they do it.
