Is this an AIR/desktop app, a mobile app or something in the browser?
Wow! That was the quickest response I've ever gotten. Thanks!
This is a web-based application.
Many people use navigateToURL to popup a new browser window. Adventurous folks try to place an Iframe over the Flex app so it appears more integrated.
Hehe...I had just landed on the navigateToURL command b/c I used "launch url" to browse instead of "access url".
I think I'm part of the "many people" group .
Can I access the html file content with just using a relative path?
For example, I have icon images that are deployed as part of the application, and they are being accessed in this manner:
I'm asking b/c I don't yet know how to make a url for the html file once it's deployed as part of the application.
Relative paths should work, especially if it doesn’t lead off with a slash.
Just to be sure I understand correctly.
I can do the following:
var u:new URLRequest = ( "documentation/help.html" );
navigateToURL( u, "_blank" );
This should be good?
Yes, assuming the html file is in a subfolder of the app called “documentation”
Unfortunately it seems like I have to use the leading slash.
If that's the case, I have to take the adventurous route and try to do an Iframe?
Well, try the leading slash and see what happens. You can also try ../ to get back up higher in the folder tree, but sometimes security rules will get in the way.
I tried accessing a gif file that's deployed in the application as an example.
I tried with the leading slash and got a 404.
But then I tried without the leading slash and it worked!
