Thanks again, Harm!
Another question...what I'm used to is plugging my 1394 cable into the port on the back of the computer...this seems that once the MB is attached, how will I plug the cable into the ports? Is there some adapter that comes w/ the MB or would I have to purchase a separate adapter?
They're internal ports, correct?
Do I need an adapter to turn them into external?

Please help! I've already purchased the MB, but I need to be certain I can plug a 1394 cable into the MB! Please let me know if I need to also purchase an adapter.
Thanks in advance for the help!
This site says that I will need an additional adapter:
I purchased a case w/ 1394/ firewire ports on the top/ front...will I be able to plug a 1394 cable in there? So no need for an adapter?
Any help is very much appreciated!

No need for yet another extra IEEE1394 connection or card. Your case should have a front or top connector. Then it is a simple matter of connecting the cable from the case to the mobo. At the backside, maybe ASUS gives you a connector to slide in an expansion slot with only a firewire cable attached to it for connection to the mobo connector. Since I don't have this mobo, I'm not sure about that.
Thank you sooo much for your help, Mr. Millaard. I feel a lot better now!
