    Can't retain Adobe Flash Player

    Lumit Level 1

I updated my Flash Player to the latest version on Firefox yesterday, but for some reason I reverted back to the previous version so I can't watch videos etc. In response, I reinstalled Adobe Flash following the steps provided. I cannot view the Flash animation on http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about

It seems whenever I restart my computer, Adobe Flash reverts. After reinstallation, it works perfectly until I restart my computer =/

I'm using Firefox 8.0, Windows XP 32 bit.

      In C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash, there is:
      A folder: FlashPlayerTrust

      FlashInstall.log

      FlashUtil11e_Plugin.exe

      asNPSWF32.dll 10.0.22.87
      flashplayer.xpt
      install.log
      NPSWF32.dll 10.0.22.87

I don't know why this is happening, but I would first try a clean reinstall (there are some strange things in your install folder).

If the problem still occurs, can you again list the files in the install folder, as well as the contents of the FlashInstall.log file.

Thanks ʇɐb ɹəuəllıʍ! It's working fine after following those steps! =)

I'll see how it holds =D

Ok, I spoke too soon. It worked for a while before videos and the animation at http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ became unviewable.

Currently, the contents of the FlashInstall.log:

And right now the contents of C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash,

                FlashInstall.log

                flashplayer.xpt

                FlashUtil11e_Plugin.exe

                NPSWF32.dll (10.0.22.87)

This is after fulfilling your instructions and restarting the computer.

Actually, I'm not sure whether it was working fine as I posted 3 posts ago. I assumed it was working after viewing a Youtube video but it seems that right now, I can view this select video:

                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGvl7w1WTpc&feature=g-all

whilst others that I have tried don't work =/

                    NPSWF32.dll (10.0.22.87)

This is very confusing; you have parts of FP10 (NPSWF32.dll) and FP11 (FlashUtil11e_Plugin.exe).

Either you haven't followed my instructions step by step, or "something" on your system is doing this.

I've gone through your instructions twice and the same thing is happening. After uninstalling, there is only the FlashInstall.log.
Then after restarting the computer, there is the FlashInstall.log and NPSWF32.dll (10.0.22.87).
I deleted these files as you instructed, then installed. After installation:

                      FlashInstall.log

                      flashplayer.xpt

                      FlashUtil11e_Plugin.exe

                      NPSWF32.dll (11.1.102.55)

                      and it was working fine.
After restarting the computer, the NPSWF32.dll reverted back to 10.0.22.87 =/

I've had a look around C:\Windows\system32\Macromed, and there's a Shockwave 10 folder. Is that by any chance contributing to this problem?

What are you actually installing, Flash Player 10.0 or 11.1?

Regarding Shockwave Player, do you have version 10 or 11 installed?  If 11, then you can delete the Shockwave 10 folder.

                          Installing Flash Player 11.1

And I've got version 11 of Shockwave Player installed.

I missed that part of your post.  So FP11 installed correctly, but during Windows restart NPSWF32.dll was replaced with an old version.  What timestamp does that version show?

Anyway, there must be something doing that, but I have no idea what...

Do you have any other Adobe product installed that could be doing that?

We may need to look at your startup programs.

I'm not sure what you mean by timestamp =S
I checked the 10.0.22.87 file's properties and it said it was created yesterday and modified around the time I opened my computer today.

Currently (with the reverted version), I have Adobe Acrobat 10.1.1.33, Shockwave Flash 10.0.22.87 and Shockwave for Director 11.5.7.609 listed in my Firefox addons, but the Shockwave for Director is disabled.
