I'm using Indesign CS5.5, latest build, and twice today I have flipped back from High Quality Display mode back to Typical Display, but the display quality has stayed at High Quality, although Typical Display is ticked on the menu.
I'm still quite new to InDesign, so I might be missing something, or is this a bug?
It mostly works as expected, but this has happened on a number of occasions now.
I'm on XP Pro SP3.
THere i8s also a selection to "allow object level display" and it souynds like the individual images may have HQ enalbed at the object level. You can disable it globally in the prefs or turn it off in the menu.
Also with no document open go through all your settings and set them the way you want them, from then on Indesign will start new documents the way you have set those settings
Thanks ... It may well be the Allow Object Display Level setting - as I'm still learning shortcuts I'm finding unexpected things happen as a result of hitting unintended shortcut!
