Once you purchase a valid upgrade from CS 2 to CS 5, you can directly install the CS 5 upgrade software on your new Mac Book Pro.
When you install the upgrade, the installer will check for a previous qualifying version already installed on your computer. If it cannot detect one, it will ask you to input the serial number for your CS2 version to verify if it is a valid upgrade.
Once you input the serial number for CS 2, the installer will use that as a qualifying criteria and continue installation.
So as long as you have the CS 2 serial number, you should not have any problem installing the upgrade on your new Mac Book pro.
Please do verify the minimum system requirements for the product you are upgrading to before you make the purchase.
Thanks

Gautham K Dec 7, 2011 4:45 AM (in response to daly_jacqui)Hi,
Could you please provide the exact name of the CS 2 product so that I can verify if you can upgrade to the latest version of Photoshop?
Is it a Suite? (like CS 2 master collection, Design premium, Web Premium, Production Premium).
Or is it a single product?
Thanks
