There's your mistake. You have interlaced footage, use an interlaced sequence.

Dave Dwyer Dec 10, 2011 12:25 AM (in response to JSS1138)I chose the sequence as 1080p25 because I am bringing in other footage from a DSLR which is 1080p. I thought it better to make the sequence 1080p and convert the 1080i accordingly. Ok, I shall do another test using both the 1080i footage from the Sony Z1 and 1080p footage from the DSLR in a 1080i sequence and see how we go.

Dave Dwyer Dec 10, 2011 2:10 AM (in response to JSS1138)That worked well, thanks Jim.
So the lesson for the day: Use interlaced sequences when editing both interlaced and progressive source footage (on the same timeline) for Bluray.

JSS1138 Dec 10, 2011 12:52 PM (in response to Dave Dwyer)Or...always use at least the same camera settings for any given project, if you can't actually use the same camera for all the footage.

5. Re: Getting serious jaggies on Bluray. Help!
Bryan Chilcher Dec 10, 2011 9:57 PM (in response to Dave Dwyer)I have had excellent results with the FieldsKit plugin from ReVisionFX - http://revisionfx.com/products/fieldskit/
I think it was about $90 - I used it for a project where I needed to read a sign clearly to export a still. The shot was a medium-pan while riding in a moving vehicle - HVR-Z1U (NTSC). The difference was night and day. Huge. One would be hard-pressed to tell the difference between the 1080i footage with this applied and true 1080p. I don't have the Z1U any longer, so it would take me a minute to refamiliarize myself with it...

Dave Dwyer Dec 10, 2011 10:16 PM (in response to Bryan Chilcher)Thanks Bryan. So how would one use the plugin? i.e. would you apply this plugin to the 1080i clip whilst it is placed in a 1080p sequence?

Bryan Chilcher Dec 11, 2011 9:04 PM (in response to Dave Dwyer)I was using it in an 1080i HDV project - but only to export stills. I need read the manual or anything, I just started playing with it. The manual is also on their website though as a PDF file. Sorry for the late reply.
