Do you want to scale the content, or just reduce the page size and reflow text and add pages?
I would like to reduce the content. I basically want exactly what I have now as an 8x10 to be a 5x7 meaning all the fonts photos etc would be smaller.
I know there will be a lot of fine tuning to do but i am fine with that. Is there a way?
Ok I am on a mac and pretty good with computers and technoogy but I have no idea what that is... or how to use it? Is it a difficult process or is there a place I can learn about what to do?
I downloaded the script file... but am I supposed to copy and paste the script somehwere in indesign?

8 x10 and 5 x7 have slightly different proportions.
When shrinking or enlarging you need to adjust both dimensions proportionally (by the same amount)
Think of it like a funhouse mirror, things will either appear fatter or thinner if you attempt to stretch the height and width by different amounts.
If you shrink your doc down approx 62% this will reduce the 8" dimension down to 5" but the 10" dimension will shrink to 6.25", so if you are doing this in portrait orientation you will have some additional vertical space at both the top & bottom of the new smaller doc.
Go to art supply store and get a Proportional Scale, better known as a Proportion Wheel. Just a few bucks, no one should be without one.
Peter I was so excited last night when I got your fix to work! But realized that I cannot manipulate text within it the pages are flat. It is essential that I manipulate the text etc. There need to be adjustments such as font size and full bleed photos.
But you were genius enough to know of this fix to begin with... so I am hoping you know of a way to tell it not to flatten the images? Is there a way? Please tell me there is.
And yes Bo I did realize I did not have it just right and want it to be perfect. So I am going to do it at the proper demenisions. This should help me now that I have a feeling I have to do it all from scratch at this point... 8 hours of my life are about to go out the window! : (
Thank you all for your help!!
No, when you place pages from one file into another you can't edit directly in the new file -- it becomes a link like any other and you have to edit in the original, which isn't going to help you much here.
You can try using Layout Adjustment, but it isn't going to do all the work by any means.
First, make a backup copy of the file, then go to Layout > Layout Adjustment... and turn it on. Now go to Document Setup and cange tha page size and margins. Objects snapped to guides should change size and sahpe to match new guide positions, but your type will not change size so it's going to reflow and leave oversets (edit your styles), and any images that resize will probably scale disproportionally. All in all you may find it faster to start over and copy/paste waht you can from one doc to the other.
