Gifting of In App Purchases

Does anyone know of a way we can provide paid in app magazines to the press / news outlets as a PR copy for free?

You can generate a promo code from your iTunes account which can be redeemed by the recipient.

Thanks Bob. I'll give it a try. The issue is not with the app but rather in app content, hopefully this will work.

I believe that Apple makes promo codes available only for apps, not for in-app purchases. Let us know if promo codes are available for both.

I have tried those Apple promo codes some time ago. No use for in-app purchases.

Thank you Ants. It does not work. This something we need to help promote the magazine to the press as well as bloggers. This would be a nice feature to add in the future for Pro and Enterprise accounts.

I looked for a solution like this some time ago, ended up using a service called Trophit, do you know it? works well on android too plus there is no sdk needed which is cool

Yep this feature is now live. You can now gift in app purchases from inside iTunes connect.

Humm, I don't have time to log in and check right now, and also I havn't done it myself (although I have gifted apps before, not in app purchases). It does appear that you can do this now however.

If not in iTunes connect, perhaps try the more general and easily forgotten 'developer center' section.

Well, guess I'll come around to it later on. As I said I'm using trophit to do even more at the moment. BTW my app is actually a PREMIUM app, (2.99), but I still find that giving vouchers to content makes people happy. If I give 2000 coins to someone and it saves him 15 mins collecting them by himself, it's still valuable for him (15min of his time vs. 0.99$ in case it's a paid item, for example) and I don't need to actually lose IAPs in the process.

Yep this feature is now live. You can now gift in app purchases from inside iTunes connect.

Here is not yet available (I checked it on different iTunes account).
