2. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
Jon Geddes Dec 15, 2011 1:21 PM (in response to m2425)Answers to your questions:
1) Not possible with the current version of Encore. You would need a different authoring application to do this. Another possibility, which I have never tried, is to build the project, then go back and modify the png files that Encore creates for the button states, then build again and hopefully Encore uses the modified files without issue. It's very possible though that Encore will spit out an error or just rebuild the modified png files.
2) Not possible with Encore. You can modify the final built project using BDedit, creating your own playlists and seamlessly linking the files, but Encore does not provide a way to do it.
3) Not that I'm aware of. It certainly doesn't have anything built in to close the pop-up. Why would you need a button to close the pop-up anyway? The user must press the pop-up button to open the pop-up, why wouldn't they just press it again to hide the pop-up?

3. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
m2425 Dec 15, 2011 1:27 PM (in response to Jon Geddes)I was trying to modify my project using BDedit but I don't know how to create a playlist? And I know how limited encore is, by searching online I found out how to add DTS-HD MA and Dobly TrueHD with other programs and how to build a menu in encore cs5 to output in AVC(h.264).

4. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
Jon Geddes Dec 15, 2011 1:41 PM (in response to m2425)It's much easier to modify an existing playlist, such as the first one.
Just link the playlists together in Encore like you mentioned, then open in BDedit.
Locate the Playlist for the first clip, then add the other clips after it. Change the 'c' value (connection condition) to 5 for each clip after the first one. This will link the clips seamlessly.
Set the in and out times for each clip to the same as they are from the individual playlists. For example, you will have to open up the other playlists, lets just say for clip 2, and see what the exact in and out time is. Use that same in/out time when adding hte clip 2 to the first playlist.
When adding new clips to the playlist, make sure to also change the video type to the correct setting, as well as the audio.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, once you modify the first playlist to include all the clips, you can just modify the main movie object to skip the other playlists.

Jon Geddes Dec 15, 2011 2:41 PM (in response to m2425)Don't worry about asking a lot of questions in BDedit, it's not exactly user friendly or intuitive.
Press 'Insert' in the Playlist window to add a new clip.
Right-Click and change to 'Edit mode' so you can modify the entry.
Change the 'file' to the appropriate clip number.
Change 'c' to 5 on every clip but the first one. The first clip should be left at 1.
Leave rS at 00.
Change the IN time to 10:00.000, and the OUT time to the same out time from that clips individual playlist. The length will automatically be entered.
When changing the In/Out time, it will ask if you want to update the playlistmarks. Just click OK.
Once you've added the clip to the playlist, you must go over to the "STN" section and change the 'Vi' Playitem to it's appropriate format (AVC/MPEG2, 1080p/i, framerate). Then you must click on the '0' below the 'Au', then click on the '+' sign to the right to add the audio to the clip. Once the audio is added, you must configure it to the correct settings (DD, Stereo, 48kHz, eng). You must do this for EACH of the clips that you add to the playlist. Quite tedious.

m2425 Dec 15, 2011 2:50 PM (in response to Jon Geddes)How do I modify the main movie object to skip the other playlists? And what happens to the rest of the playlists?

8. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
Jon Geddes Dec 15, 2011 3:11 PM (in response to m2425)Well I would have to analyze your project to see what commands need to be removed, but you should be able to follow it through the main movie object. It should reference the first playlist, then after it finishes, proceed to the next playlist. Just remove the commands that reference the other playlists.

m2425 Dec 15, 2011 3:42 PM (in response to Jon Geddes)Are the pop-up menus gonna be fine if I do this? And thanks a lot Jon!

10. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
Jon Geddes Dec 15, 2011 3:52 PM (in response to m2425)No, they will not, not unless you add them to each clip.
If you go into each individual playlist, you will see that those clips have an 'IG' stream added to the STN table. The type is 'SubPath', with a sPID of 1400. Then in the SubPath entry below, you must add an IG menu and specify the file. If you copy over all the information exactly from the individual playlists, it should work. It will be time consuming to do that for each clip... which is why I wish Adobe would implement some simple features to make all these fixes unnecessary.

11. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
m2425 Dec 15, 2011 4:46 PM (in response to Jon Geddes)So I did a quick blu-ray to see if it works and it does but the only thing is that once all the videos end it loops back to the first video. How do I fix this?

12. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
Jon Geddes Dec 15, 2011 4:49 PM (in response to m2425)This has to do with your navigation commands in the main movie object. Without seeing all the commands, it's hard to say what you need to do to fix it. Most likely you have a command that tells it to goto a previous line where it plays the first playlist. You simply need to remove that line.

14. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
Jon Geddes Dec 15, 2011 5:00 PM (in response to m2425)Yes, you must add the chapters as well for each clip at the bottom in the 'PlayListMark' section... Again, you can reference the individual playlists to see what all of those are. Hopefully you don't have too many to enter in.
Also, when editing a folder structure in BDedit, it creates backup files for everything that is modified. You should remove those backup files from your folder structure before buring to disc, as they make your disc non-compliant to the Blu-ray spec.

15. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
m2425 Dec 15, 2011 5:10 PM (in response to Jon Geddes)I saw that but on the column "PI" where the "PlayListMark" it shows 000 and 001 but when I try to add for 001 it just comes out 000 and I try to put the # 1 on the box below it doesn't work, I found a work around by exporting and then copying and pasting several times the last chapter mark and then importing and then editing the times, is there a easier way to do this?

16. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
Jon Geddes Dec 15, 2011 5:17 PM (in response to m2425)PI refers to Playlist Item, and I'm not sure how to change that. You might want to look through the BDedit website to see if there is a shortcut key for that, or some other way to change the PI.

Jon Geddes Dec 15, 2011 5:25 PM (in response to m2425)Are you sure that is your main movie object? The first play is Title 5, which is movie object 4. See whats in that movie object and what it links to.

19. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
m2425 Dec 15, 2011 5:27 PM (in response to Jon Geddes)Is there a way to change the path of a button? I want to add a new playlist and have the play all button linked to that playlist, is that possible?

20. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
m2425 Dec 15, 2011 5:29 PM (in response to Jon Geddes)The first play is my main menu, is that the main movie object?

21. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
Jon Geddes Dec 15, 2011 5:35 PM (in response to m2425)Your First Play set in Encore is not the first movie object. BDedit tells you what the first title is (5 in your case).
On a side note, editing at the command level like you are doing now is very advanced, and takes a long time to learn. It's not something I can easily explain, or quickly tell you how to fix your particular project. Encore creates unique navigational code for each project depending on how you set it up, and every project is different.

25. Re: Encore CS5 Blu-Ray menu buttons; timelines; pop-up menu
m2425 Dec 16, 2011 9:54 AM (in response to Jon Geddes)I found out to make only 1 title for all my movies on encore cs5 then add them and their clpi files after the build and modify the mpls (playlist) to make a seamlessly playlist for my movies.
