1. Re: Downgrade from CS5.5 to CS5
Gary Agoura Dec 15, 2011 6:33 PM (in response to Howard Hoffman)I'm not an expert but I would highly doubt that you can open files saved in CS5.5 in CS5. The new features won't be known in the previous version but if there aren't any file structure changes, then it's possible. I am a software developer so that would be my guess.

shooternz Dec 15, 2011 6:38 PM (in response to Howard Hoffman)I think there is a major bug in AME CS5.5.
Thats a big call!
What is it?

I have confirmation that the problem can be reproduced in Encore. But I don't know if it's a problem with AME or Encore (I suspect it's AME)

shooternz Dec 15, 2011 7:39 PM (in response to Howard Hoffman)Just curious.
Is it standard procedure to use .m4v for blu ray production?

5. Re: Downgrade from CS5.5 to CS5
davidbeisner2010 Dec 16, 2011 6:22 AM (in response to Howard Hoffman)Yes, you can open them.... at least simple projects, anyway. It'll ask you to save a new copy of the project with the _1 attachment, like it does going from CS5 to 5.5... I've successfully gone back to CS5 with a 5.5 project when I had issues with 5.5 giving me a successful export with corrupted video drivers (since fixed that problem, and it wasn't a problem in 5.5... it was a problem on my system).
However, as shooter says, I wouldn't recommend it as best practice, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of your bigger projects would end up getting corrupted or missing bits of information...

6. Re: Downgrade from CS5.5 to CS5
Howard Hoffman Dec 16, 2011 10:07 AM (in response to davidbeisner2010)I was told the problem is also there in CS5. So the next step will be CS4.

7. Re: Downgrade from CS5.5 to CS5
JSS1138 Dec 17, 2011 4:17 PM (in response to Howard Hoffman)I question that bug. I don't have a problem using my exported files in Encore, without retranscoding.

Howard Hoffman Dec 17, 2011 4:24 PM (in response to JSS1138)Adobe developers took the sample I gave and reproduce the problem.

9. Re: Downgrade from CS5.5 to CS5
JSS1138 Dec 17, 2011 6:13 PM (in response to Howard Hoffman)Well, that then begs the question, what is different with your sample that doesn't affect most users? What are you doing differently?

10. Re: Downgrade from CS5.5 to CS5
Howard Hoffman Dec 17, 2011 6:18 PM (in response to JSS1138)I am not sure how to investigate on my end. This is AVCHD source without any filter applied. I've done my work to narrow down to small samples.
They provided some indication about where the problem might be. But it's better for them to finish the investigation before we go any further on that discussion.

JSS1138 Dec 17, 2011 7:52 PM (in response to Howard Hoffman)Maybe.
It is curious, though.
