Draw a mask and assign it as a garbage matte in the effect. This way the keyer will ignore it anmd it should not filcker...
Thanks for the suggestion.. one more question though.. how do i assign the mask ask a garbage mask in the keylight effect? I see stuff for inside mask and outside mask, but since i'm kind of new to keying, i'm not sure what to look for.

You would be looking for the Outside Mask. It also sounds like you'd benefit from the free Keylight tutorial you can download from The Foundry. There are others around the web as well, just a google away.
