1. Re: Javascript console not coming up
Niall O'Donovan Dec 21, 2011 2:35 PM (in response to Bill95722)Hi,
Are you opening the form in Acrobat OR are you Previewing it in LC Designer?
If it is the latter, then when LC Designer is opening Preview, it may be using the free Adobe Reader, which does not have the JavaScript Console.
Other than that you seemed to have done the right thing by setting preferences in Acrobat.
Good luck,
Niall

2. Re: Javascript console not coming up
Bill95722 Dec 21, 2011 3:16 PM (in response to Niall O'Donovan)I'm opening in Acrobat then Forms->Edit form in Designer which starts LC
Still in LC I click the Preview PDF tab to run testing
Is there any way to tell the free Reader is being used? That would explain it but then the question would be how to avoid it.
The console used to pop up on errors. I don't use LC often so something has changed to cause the console to stop coming up.
No doubt user err, I just don't know what it is.
Thanks for the help

3. Re: Javascript console not coming up
Niall O'Donovan Dec 21, 2011 3:22 PM (in response to Bill95722)Try opening the form in Acrobat and press Control+J. Does the console open? There are settings in Acrobat preferences for the console to open automatically on errors, but I have powered down now.
I think the official line is that Adobe do not recommend having Reader installed on the same machine as Acrobat.
Good luck,
Niall

4. Re: Javascript console not coming up
Bill95722 Dec 22, 2011 2:20 PM (in response to Niall O'Donovan)Starting Acrobat then hitting ctl-j brought up the console!
Opened my form in Acrobat, did Form->Edit form in Designer (brings up LC)
Then the console just sat there, never showed err messages. Sigh
Probably as I have Reader also installed (though that didn't cause a problem before)
Thanks for the help!

Try opening the form directly in LC Designer and not via Acrobat.

Bill95722 Dec 24, 2011 6:43 AM (in response to Niall O'Donovan)Tried but the console didn't come up either with ctl-j or on an error.
I will close this discussion, thanks to all for the help.
