1. Re: Why doesn't the image show in the document window?
Curt Y Dec 23, 2011 7:30 PM (in response to slh239)Unclear what you see it you see just document name. Is there an window box? Or now window at all?
What type of image are you trying to open - jpeg?

2. Re: Why doesn't the image show in the document window?
slh239 Dec 23, 2011 7:35 PM (in response to Curt Y)There is the standard document window and I can see the name of the document on the window box.
But I cannot get the image to show in the window box.
Thanks,

Curt Y Dec 23, 2011 7:43 PM (in response to slh239)send a screen shot so we can be sure what you are seeing.
Take the screenshot and then use the camera icon in the reply box to upload.

6. Re: Why doesn't the image show in the document window?
Curt Y Dec 23, 2011 7:57 PM (in response to slh239)Open Image/image size and increase the size. It may be so small you can't see it.
Let me know if this works, am going to sign off shortly.

7. Re: Why doesn't the image show in the document window?
Chris Cox Dec 23, 2011 8:00 PM (in response to Curt Y)The document is at 100%, so I'm guessing it's another out of date video card driver with a bug.
Go to the GPU maker's web site (not Microsoft, nor the system builder) and check for updated drivers.

8. Re: Why doesn't the image show in the document window?
slh239 Dec 23, 2011 8:02 PM (in response to Curt Y)No. That doesn’t work. I know the image is changed in size if I go and save it as another version and look at it in Windows. But nothing shows in the document window.

slh239 Dec 23, 2011 8:06 PM (in response to Chris Cox)What's GPU? [This is a new computer, btw! ]

10. Re: Why doesn't the image show in the document window?
slh239 Dec 23, 2011 8:21 PM (in response to slh239)OK. I tried that - updating GPU. It's up to date. That hasn't worked either.

11. Re: Why doesn't the image show in the document window?
Chris Cox Dec 23, 2011 8:32 PM (in response to slh239)GPU = Graphics Processing Unit, the major part of your video card
OK, try this: go into Photoshop's preferences, go to the Performance section, and turn off OpenGL drawing, then quit and relaunch Photoshop.
If the image shows after that, then we'll know for sure that your video card driver is the problem. (because disabling OpenGL drawing will avoid the buggy part of the driver software)

12. Re: Why doesn't the image show in the document window?
slh239 Dec 23, 2011 8:44 PM (in response to Chris Cox)Oh, yes! That worked! So the NVDIA video card is buggy....there appear to be 2 video cards there. The Intel one is up-to-date. I better check the other part of the NVDIA card.
Thank you. Is it ok to leave the OpenGL disabled? What are the implications of that?

13. Re: Why doesn't the image show in the document window?
slh239 Dec 23, 2011 9:03 PM (in response to Chris Cox)Thank you so much, Chris Cox. I downloaded the NVDIA update. And everything is working now. I went back in and enabled the OpenGL thingy. And it's all working. Very happy.
Have a wonderful festive season!

14. Re: Why doesn't the image show in the document window?
Curt Y Dec 24, 2011 8:27 AM (in response to slh239)I am assuming the Nvdia card overrides the Intel onboard graphics. Which is good as the Intel has a lot of limitations in PS.
