A blue ray disk can hold 25gb of data as opposed to a DVD 4.7gb.
Is there any way I can store standard original footage AVI from an old DV camera via firewire on a BD disk and use it later on for
archive or editing some time in the future?
That way I could store a whole DV tape on a BD disk.
Yes. Use a program, like the great, free ImgBurn to do BD-Data discs. Just Copy your files/folders to the blank disc.
You might want to see this ARTICLE, however. Just something, possibly potential, to think about.
Thanks for the warning!
With video I gues it doesn't matter if an occasional bit or two is missing - you'd never notice it but with data it can be catastrophic.
After all 4 blank DVDs costs abouit the same as 1 BD. Its just more convenient if it's on one disk.
