I don't believe you can send the "magic packet" for Wake On Lan wlth with just Lingo, and I have never heard of an Xtra that provides this functionality either. However there are many WOL utlities (just google for them). Find one that has command line support and use Valentin Schmidt's Shell Xtra (http://valentin.dasdeck.com/xtras/shell_xtra/) to execute it from within a Director movie.
Thank you very much Mister MUX.
I know asUDP Xtras that can send and receive UDP datagram. Does this Xtras send the "magic packet"?
Do you know the code for that "magic packet"?
many thanks again.
I have never used the asUDP xtra, but after a quick read of the documentation it looks like it might work. You will probably need to use the accompanying BytesXtra as well. The structure of the Magic Packet is described in this wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wake-on-LAN.
It is an interesting project. Please post updates of your progress.
