I use a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6) with the trackpad. When I am in InDesign, using the Type Tool, I keep the magnification at 150%. But often, without warning, when I click in a text box to begin to make a change, the document shifts to the right and the magnification drops to 149%, or sometimes 146%.
Resetting the InDesign preferences did not solve the problem.
Any suggestions for how I can make this quirk disappear?
Is it possible you are inadvertantly executing a pinch when you click? If you pinch with two fingers on the trackpad, ID will zoom out. And if you do it by just a little bit, you can get 146%.
One way to tell would be to turn off the pinch gesture in System Preferences > Trackpad and see if your problem goes away.
You might also find the 3rd party tool BetterTouchTool lets you adjust the trackpad paramters to your liking.
Many thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try and see if that helps.
