import .mov files to Elements 8

Got a new laptop with enough power to run Elements 8, but it won't import the .mov files from my Kodak Zi8 camcorder. I have installed the latest version of Quicktime. Everything I've read says Elements will work with .mov files. What am I doing wrong?

MOVs can use any of hundreds of codecs, most of which may not be editable in Premiere Elements.

Video from these types of cameras, for instance, are often MJPEG-MOVs, which will not load right into Premiere Elements.

If you plan to work with this type of video, the smartest move is to buy Quicktime Pro from Apple.com, which will both convert this video into editable DV-AVIs and even do some basic editing of it.
