Why does any action I do result in a serious error?

I installed Adobe Premiere Elements 10 a few days ago and am working with a simple photo slideshow. A serious error messages pops up then causes the program to crash when I: open the program, move an audio file, attempt to use pan and zoom on a photo, delete a file, cut a file, paste a file, etc. Really any action causes the program to close. I wonder if there is a corrupted file somewhere on my computer that is causing this. Perhaps I need to reinstall? Here is the error message I recieve:

      [/PerforceRoot/PRE10/premiere/elements/mac/main/MediaCore/Backend/Make/Mac/../../Src/Seque nce/TrackItemTrack.cpp-549]

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
