I have Reader X (10.1.1) installed on my Win XP machine but need to use Reader 9.3.4 (or earlier version) to read a CD that has pdf links from an html file. For some reason the pdf's on this CD will only open in the older version (as noted by the CD's author). Is it possible to install version 9.3.4 and have IE8 use this as it's Reader plugin without affecting the use of the existing Reader X? Is it possible to do this somehow?
Thanks in advance.
You can't have two versions of Reader on the same computer. However, there's no reason why the files should not open in Reader X (unless the creator spent a lot of effort to prevent that, which doesn't make sense at all).
I actually had two different versions of Reader on my work laptop (X and 9 I believe, or XI and X?) I refused to update these because the way I work efficiently is to have two different versions or instances of a PDF reader (multiple screens.) Now Adobe Reader DC updated itself and now is the only version on the system. Why Adobe did this is beyond me, I need to find another pdf solution, anyone have any ideas?
