I don't see how your question relates to Adobe Reader; you really should ask Google.
Just thought that adobe reader / pdf experts might know, quite hard to get info from google about specific topics. thanks for the answer anyway, will keep looking!

From what I understand, if the PDF is crawlable (has live text) then yes, it will be considered duplicate content.
Pdfs are ranked and treated the same as any webpage. So the content on the pdf is crawlable just like the content on a page.
Here you can see PDFs ranking for Brava Roof Tile:
If the content found on these pdfs was on a page, Google would only pick 1 result which they find to be the better of the 2 (typically based on CTR and time spent on site)
