Screen height and taskbar set to auto-hide

Recently been working on an application that needs to be either docked at the top or the bottom of the screen. I've kept the nativewindow size to the available screen size the whole time, to keep things simple. This works fine except when a user in Windows has their taskbar set to auto-hide. Assuming the taskbar is hidden at launch (which it would be usually) then the application is getting the available height as the whole screen, including taskbar area. This results in users being unable to get to their taskbar again, if they have the app set to be Always at Front. Is there a way around this auto-hiding taskbar issue? Ideally it would be good to have the app be in front of everything EXCEPT the taskbar, but this doesn't appear to be the default case...
