I think default red support is for regular red one only. For scarlet/epic you have to install an installer from adobe labs - http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/redepic_importer/ . But I think it works only with CS5.5 (not sure) so if you have regular CS5 then you may be out of luck.
hi thank you for the reply, but I have seen people in youtube which they just import .r3d files stright in to Pr & Ae CS5 and it works fine.

Not all R3D files are the same. Clips from a newer camera using newer firmware may well not work in older versions of Premiere Pro.

Those youtube clips that you mention - those most likely use regular red one (original red camera) files - those work fine in CS5 and CS5.5.
But the link where you downloaded sample clips - those are from red epic/scarlet (newest red models) and thus still not yet supported in regular CS5/CS5.5 unless you install that adobe labs installer for epic that I linked before.
