Mac or Win? OS version?
Did you unload and install Reader 9? From where? Do you mean there is nothing where your PDFs used to be? And you cannot get any other program (such as...) to open?
I have not downloaded the Adobe Reader 9 program yet. All of the PDF Files in my Adobe 8 Reader program are gone, most of them are listed but the ones that are listed comes up with an error. The error tells me that the file is no longer in that program (Adobe Reader 8). I have not found a away to open or even find out where they went, except, the possibility is if I download Adobe Reader 9, it may open the files? You asked if I could not get another program (such as..., to open), what other program are you referring to? I have Windows Vista Home Premium, SP 2, & I.E. 9. I don't know if any of that is relevant,,,? Thank-you for your time & your help.
Can you please check if there is any entry for Reader in 'Add and remove program'?
'Add and remove program' can be accessed from Start->Control Panel ->Programs and Features.
My question about not been able to open other programs arises from this remark in your opening message:
"I don't know where my document went & why I can't open the other programs?"
In any case, with the little information you give, I seem to understand that you can see icons of your missing files where they used to be, but you cannot open them with Reader. Could you describe exactly what happens if you double click on one of these files? And if I am not understanding you, please try to explain in detail what your problem really is...
