I have found the answer!
with hdv camcorder you get to see the video image only on the camcorder monitor/viewfinder.
I hope it will be fixed in version 6!
1. Adobe people are aware of the bug (there is a remark about it in the "help").
2. My old LE deals with capturing hdv with no problem. I would rather use it instead of another software. However thank you for your advise.
3. I do hope that this issue will be taken care of in next version.
The ability to view HDV while capturing video is NOT a bug.
They have it set up that way.
I wish it would show but that is not the way the made it.
Here is a link explaining it:
I have the Sony FX1 & Z1U and also would like it to show.
I never seen a good answer of WHY they have it this way but would love to know.
But of course my next camera will probably be file based and not tape based.
Mabye in CS6
Z5 comes with the option of recording both to tape and cf!
I think the CF is for stills and not video.
Sony hvr-z5 cradle takes cf – I'm using it and it works fine.
How ever it is very surpising that image will not show when you cpature hdv tape. I need it for the fx1000 footage.
For the FX1000 are you saying that you can not see the video while capturing or are you saying you can not see the video while you are previewing before you capture.
I just look at my cameras monitor while I capture if I want to see it while capturing but I can see it on my computer monitor while I figure out my in and out points.
I have no other joice but to do what you are doing – using my camcorder monitor. Which is by far less convenient.
I dont ever recal anyone from Adobe ever explaining on why it desn't work with HDV.
At least we know its not a bug and this is designed this way.
One would think it would be easy having the video show but maybe it is to taxing on the system to capture and view with HDV with Premiere.
I know other software does it but just because other software does it doesn't help Premiere.
kind of the same problem I have. I have sony hdr xr160 (AVCHD). When I shoot, I hear sound and see video (MTS files). But once I import it into my bin on Adobe CS5, I only hear audio. A coworker of mine has Adobe CS4 and it imports with video and audio on that version. Were the some upgrades to CS5 the reason video will not play? Any ideas?
That's not even close to the same problem, veair.
