twenty_one Jan 15, 2012 10:32 AM (in response to Heirloom Bob)It's possible (although actions involving ACR are always tricky). I tried it with "suppress file open options" and "override action open" in the batch dialog, and that worked.
When you record the action you must Open As in Photoshop, and under file type choose Camera Raw.

But oversaving jpgs seems like a less than ideal procedure to me anyway.
I fully agree and always, on principle, go back to the PSD master file to do something like this.
That said, in a pinch one or two resaves at 8 or higher will usually be acceptable. It depends on quality requirement of course.

I put a meaningful title on this thread. You'll get faster answers if you do descriptive titles.

5. Re: How to batch process through ACR...
JJMack Jan 16, 2012 1:35 PM (in response to Heirloom Bob)The first thing I do with my RAW file to to create ACR setting sidecar files I use the Bridge and create many are onec by select groups of images that look like they have simular exposures. I work on one image and sync the ACR setting to othere. A crop setting can also be made for the image the need to be croped. I just click Done in ACR for the group sidecar files are created for all the RAW files in the group no RGB image file is created. Onec I have ACR setting for all my RAW files I use one of the Image Processor scripts to create RGB image files. You can include actions in this process and create many filetypes and inage sizes. You need not worry about any of that in your actions the Image Process dialog is very flexable and has filetype and resizing options you'll need.
You can also use the Image Processor script to process RAW files that have no ACR settings using other Image Processor RAW file options.

6. Re: How to batch process through ACR...
SaturnV Jan 16, 2012 9:49 PM (in response to Heirloom Bob)It sounds like you don't need to enter Photoshop at all here.
- In Bridge, select all the JPEG files.
- Choose File > Open in Camera Raw.
- In Camera Raw, click Select All, adjust Fill Light, all selected images are adjusted. (Or do them individually.)
- Hold down the pointer on the Crop tool to pop up the crop tool menu, choose Custom, set Crop pop-up menu to Inches, enter 4 and 6.
- If the crop is identical for all images, select them all and drag the crop tool...done.
- If the crop is not identical, select individual images and drag the vertical crop. Go back to step 4, enter 6 and 4, and do all the horizontals.
- If all images are ready, click Select All, and click the Save Images button at the bottom left corner of the Camera Raw dialog box.
- Set the destination to Save in Same Location (I agree this setting is not a good idea because if you make just one mistake, you're screwed), set all the other settings and click Save, have a drink and wait as Camera Raw saves all the files to disk in the background.
If all your steps are possible in Camera Raw alone, doing them there will be much faster and simpler than doing it in Photoshop, even if you create a Photoshop action.

twenty_one Jan 17, 2012 1:59 AM (in response to PECourtejoie)That's the whole point of coming here. Not to "teach", but to learn .
Just putting together an answer to a question you "know the answer to" can be very educating, because you need to clear the concepts in your head, test your assumptions etc.
And that's why points and all that are so meaningless. It's simply not what it's about.

c.pfaffenbichler Jan 17, 2012 2:30 AM (in response to twenty_one)Well, I’ve certainly picked up a lot on these Fora.
And as the saying goes:

Though I guess returning favours can be OK, too …
