    Adobe Reader German 10.1.2 slipstream

    mikeibeda

We have a problem with the German Adobe Reader Slipstream.

      We have 1000 clients.

      Here's what we have done:
      - Msiexec / a AdbeRdr1010_de_DE.msi / p AdbeRdrUpd1011.msp
Then we had version 10.1.1 and you have distributed via GPO to all clients.

      Then we have today by

      First attempt
      -msiexec / a AdbeRdr1010_de_DE.msi / p AdbeRdrUpd1012.msp

The new MSI file is created.

When installing but now comes the following german error message:

"Eine Weitere Version dieses Produkts ist bereits installiert..."

      Second attempt:

I now uninstall the version of 10.1.1 and 10.1.2 install then try the following error message appears:

The 'adobearmhelper.exe' can not be installed bcause the file can not be found in cabinet file 'Data1.cab' ...

      Third attempt:

I make now an MSI from 10.1.2 thus:
      msiexec / ac: \ Adobe \ AdbeRdr1010_de_DE.msi to c: \ Adobe \ rollout
      and then
      msiexec / ac: \ Adobe \ rollout \ AdbeRdr1010_de_DE.msi / pc: \ Adobe \ AdbeRdrUpd1012.msp
will install the following error message:
Could not locate cabinet in stream file: Data1.cab

      I've read articles http://forums.adobe.com/message/4132470?tstart=0

I've already written the article in the German forum but nobody answered.

          Hi,

You are creating the AIP incorrectly, thereby resulting in the error message. The steps followed in your third attempt are the correct ones and should have created the AIP as expected.

Any AIP creation process for a quarterly release is a two step process as detailed below. Please see kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83709/attachments/Acrobat_Enterprise_Admi nistration.pdf for more information on the same.

             i. msiexec /a AdbeRdr1010_de_DE.msi

(When prompted for an install location enter an appropriate location on your local disk. say C:\AIP)

             ii. msiexec /a C:\AIP\AdbeRdr1010_de_DE.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd1012.msp

This should create the AIP properly and correctly on your system

Could you please try again, and see if you face the same issue.

            This is not the problem.
            After I do this "msiexec /a AdbeRdr1010_de_DE.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd1011.msp"
I have the file "AdbeRdr1010_de_DE.msi" in AdbeRdr1011_de_DE.msi renamed and
            distributed via GPO.

Now I have the original "AdbeRdr1010_de_DE.msi" rename "AdbeRdr1011_de_DE.msi" and then run this:
            i. msiexec /a AdbeRdr1011_de_DE.msi
(When prompted for an install location enter an appropriate location on your local disk say C:\AIP)
            ii. msiexec / a C: \AIP\AdbeRdr1011_de_DE.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd1012.msp

              Hi,

              After I do this "msiexec /a AdbeRdr1010_de_DE.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd1011.msp"

As I said earlier, this is an incorrect workflow. An AIP must be created as a two step process always. You should not club the two steps as you have indicated. The method you are using to create the AIP is an incorrect one but worked in your case, since no file was being ADDED as part of the 10.1.1 release.

Also, for creating a 10.1.2 AIP, you do not require the 10.1.1 installer and/or the 10.1.1 AIP.

As indicated in my earlier post, all you need is the 10.1.0 MSI and the 10.1.2 patch.

Please follow the instructions given in y earlier post to create the AIP to be pushed across your network.

              Hope this helps.
