Upon extracting AdbeRdr1012_en_US.exe, you should see AcroRead.msi file along with Reader 10.1.2 msp file plus few more files. As you are customizing AcroRead.msi and so running it, will end up installing 10.1 since you have not included 10.1.2 patch.
However, while running AdbeRdr1012_en_US.exe, this in turn runs the setup.exe file, which read Setup.ini file, where10.1.2 patch is referred and hence ends up installing 10.1.2.
You can do the following,
Once you have extracted the exe and customized AcroRead.msi. Use the below command line to install Reader 10.1.2,
msiexec /i AcroRead.msi PATCH="<path to AdbeRdrUpd1012.msp>" TRANSFORMS="<path to transform file .mst>"
Extracting AdbeRdr1012_en_US.exe produces the following files.
There is no 10.1.2 msp file as you mentioned.
How are you extracting ?
Use the following command line to extract,
AdbeRdr1012_en_US.exe -sfx_o"<extraction path>" -sfx_ne
e.g. if you want to extract to c:\ddd
you should run the following command,
AdbeRdr1012_en_US.exe -sfx_o"c:\ddd" -sfx_ne
