    Adobe 10.1.2 reader Customization Wizard

    Clack909

I downloaded the following Exe from adobe yesterday to distribute via SCCM 2007.

      AdbeRdr1012_en_US.exe

I extracted the exe above and used the Adobe Cusotmization Wizard X to confiure the package for SCCM deployment.  My problem is the extraced msi appears to install version 10.1.0.

If i run AdbeRdr1012_en_US.exe manually it installs the correct version 10.1.2 what am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Upon extracting AdbeRdr1012_en_US.exe, you should see AcroRead.msi file along with Reader 10.1.2 msp file plus few more files. As you are customizing AcroRead.msi and so running it, will end up installing 10.1 since you have not included 10.1.2 patch.

However, while running AdbeRdr1012_en_US.exe, this in turn runs the setup.exe file, which read Setup.ini file, where10.1.2 patch is referred and hence ends up installing 10.1.2.

          You can do the following,

Once you have extracted the exe and customized AcroRead.msi. Use the below command line to install Reader 10.1.2,

          msiexec /i AcroRead.msi PATCH="<path to AdbeRdrUpd1012.msp>" TRANSFORMS="<path to transform file .mst>"

Extracting AdbeRdr1012_en_US.exe produces the following files.

            ABCPY.INI

            AcroRead.msi

            Data1.cab

            setup.exe

            setup.ini

There is no 10.1.2 msp file as you mentioned.

              How are you extracting ?

Use the following command line to extract,

              AdbeRdr1012_en_US.exe -sfx_o"<extraction path>" -sfx_ne

e.g. if you want to extract to c:\ddd

you should run the following command,

              AdbeRdr1012_en_US.exe -sfx_o"c:\ddd" -sfx_ne

You should see the following six files,

              ABCPY.INI

              AcroRead.msi

              AdbeRdrUpd1012.msp

              Data1.cab

              setup.exe

              Setup.ini
