Many users who say they have replaced the preferences don't realize they need to remove two files if they do it manually. Please see Replace Your Preferences
If that doesn't solve the crash problem, please post the crash report text on pastebin.com and put a link to that post here and someone will try to tell you the source of the crash.

I did it via the keyboard keys combination (when InDesign® is launched).
So is there another trick?

No, no other tricks. The keyboard method replaces the necessary files (presuming you saw the confirmation message and answeered yes), but does not have any way to undo the action as you can do with a manual backup and replacement.
Since yo are on a Mac, you should get a crash report when this happens. Please post that on Pastebin.com, then put a link to the report here and someone will try to help you interpret what's going on.
