I want to import an 8,500 line Excel (spit) spreadsheet into InDesign and have it add the necessary number of pages and linked text frames and then flow the text AND format it, alternate lines into 1 of 2 paragraph styles. I can do everything up to it automatically formatting the placed text. The Paragraph Styles are set up for 'Next Paragraph Style…' but it doesn't seem to work on placed text. Can anyone help?
I don't know if this can be done with a table, which presumably is what you get from from placing your excel file. A Table Style might work.
If you convert table to text, though, you can select all, the right-click the name of the first style you need inthe paragraph styles panel and choose apply <stylename> and next style.
You are a GENIUS. Thank you. You've saved me hours of work.
I'm sure my wife could offer an alternative assessment.
