I have made several movies with premiere now. Easter family movies, soccerteam of my son, church choir and more....
what is the best format to save these movies in? It's so that the DVD disc eventually losing ground. How is it wise to save films for future?
Is it best to make 2-5 DVD movies and have the shelf, or is it better to save from Encore to the "DVD Folder". And save it in 2 or more hard disks.
How do you practice this question?
Hoping for a sensible answer. Hope and that this is not easy to find the FAQ, because I would not posted it:).
With best regards, Stig
This all depends on your source material. Is it HD or SD? Is it tape based or file based?
For all tape based formats, I just keep the original tapes. For file based material, I keep the original footage on a backup drive.
For SD material, I keep the .ISO image of the DVD as a backup. For HD material, I keep the .ISO of the BRD as a backup. I also keep the project files as a backup, regardless of the format.
For archiving of a finished product, I create an ISO image out of Encore and one extra hard copy DVD.
Two copies is important, in my view, as no one format is immune from disaster.
