    Not Capturing All windows

    dkmiles Community Member
This is my first exposure to Captivate, so there's a good chance I'm missing something basic.

But I am trying to capture a series of actions that involve windows opening and mouse actions in demo mode, but it continually drops key parts of the process, misses content filling the windows, and skips many mouse actions.

I've tried on both a PC and a Mac running on Parallels and have gotten the same results. In full motion record we do get the action we want, but we're hoping to use the demo mode for importing into flash and editing capability there.

Can anyone help? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks!

          Hi Doug

Is what you are recording by chance web based? If so, here is likely what is happening. In a web based situation, it is often the case where you click a link and a command is issued to a server. The server then has to process the command and feed a screen or data back to the originating PC. This may happen fast enough that you don't really notice it much. But in the world of Captivate, Captivate is running very quickly on your PC. It sensed the click and snapped the picture. The problem is, the screen often hasn't had time to populate fully or at all. This provides the illusion that Captivate is missing things, when in reality, it's simply being very quick and efficient.

The trick is to supplement the automatic capture process with manual captures. You may force a manual capture at any time by pressing the key assigned to Print Screen.

          Hopefully this was helpful... Rick

It is web based, so I'll give the manual capture a try.

            Thanks for your help Rick.
