Why a projector file (dvd) created for Mac doesn't open in Lion OS?

      Help please!

An educational DVD that was produced few years ago in director mx was published cross platform.

Now this DVD after years of running does not run in Lion OS. I understand lion doesn't have Rosetta. What is way around thi? How could this be fixed so the DVD runs on Lion.

Any help or clues would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks

      Lily

There is no way around it.  Your DVD was made in a program (Director MX) that does not make Lion compatible programs.  Lion didn't even exist back then.  The only thing to be done is to either view the DVD on a different machine that has a lower operating system version, or get the folks who created it to make a newer version that is Lion compatible.  That would involve getting the newest version of Director 11.5 and publishing it from there.  The new version of Director can make Lion programs, though it can not make older PPC programs.  Usually, the process of upgrading a program is pretty easy- just open it in D11.5 and publish.  But there were significant changes to this version of Director, so if xtras were used, or if certain Lingo commands were used, some things may need to be recoded in order to work properly.

            Thank you so much!

That helped and it is what I was afraid of. Having to open a really old director file in director 11.5 and getting all the xtras and the lingo messed up.

            Thank you
