You'll get better answers on that in the PSE forum. Looking in my non-Elements crystal ball I can only guess that either you moved your data and the welcvome screen wrongly presents outdated info or your graphics card replacmentz did something weird with project settings anbd prefs. in both cases trashing the prefs to restore factory defualts might work. Anyway, ask on the proper forum to verify...
Moved this discussion to the Premiere Elements forum.
Jeff A Wright,
Had no problems for the first few weeks but now PremEl10 won't open new or existing projects & gets stuck at the Welcome screen (Win7-64bit)
Thanks for moving this thread to the Premiere Elements forum.
Additionally, I will mention that I often get valuable help on my problems with Premiere Elements in the forums at
where there is a specific subforum for Premiere Elements 10 at
If this were my problem I would post both in the Adobe forums and in the muvipix forums.
Glad that the post found "home."
First, I would look over this ARTICLE. It starts with a checklist, and then works up in difficulty in troubleshooting.
Also, please let us know all about your computer.
Oops, helps if I add the active link - duh!
Since it last worked I've had to change back to an old graphics card because the 'new' one failed & of course Microsoft have sent me lots of updates.
Microsoft updates are not the way to keep your graphics drivers up to date. Go direct to the manufacturer web sites - usually one of nvidia, AMD, or Intel.
When you say the new card failed do you mean that it physically broke or that it didn't seem to function correctly? If the latter slot it back in and update with the manufacturers drivers. While you're about it update sound card drivers and get the latest Quicktime.

Ok it's fixed now. Must have been the graphics card. Now replaced the old Radeon X1600 with a GeForce GT550 & all is back to normal. Maybe the old card couldn't handle the right version of DirectX, but PRE10 was the only s/w that didn't work when I downgraded to the X1600 - and PRE10 just hung with NO help/message screen.
Great news, and thanks for reporting.
