    Quicktime 7

    RikkiN1 Level 1

I was told that I needed quicktime 7 in order to playback my Premier Elements video.  Should I have uploaded Quicktime 7 Pro as I find that when I playback the video it isn't always as smooth and when I render and upload to YouTube the pans and zooms aren't always the smoothest. Also, I still have Quicktime 10 on my Mac, should I have uninstalled it to make sure Premier Elements is not using it as a default?

      thanks

No. The player is all that PRE needs.

Thanks Neale....so....what about the Quicktime 10...should I uninstall it? How do I know if Premier Elements is reading Quicktime 7 and not Quicktime 10?

I hadn't spotted the 'Mac' reference. Generally you just need the most recent version of the player released for your operating system.

Hopefully a Mac user will chip in with what works for them.

                Cheers,

As Neale says, you want the most recent version of Quicktime. For Mac users, that's version 10.1.

Adobe told me in the past I needed to downoad quicktime 7 for it to work because of the codec. I'm back to square one aren't I.

I think that the Adobe T/S might have been thinking of QT for the PC, which is 7.6 range now. Apple's Mac version, is several numbers higher. Any CODEC in an earlier version, should be in a later version too.

Good luck, and please report your success,

I think I have discovered my problem. When I playback my videos on other computers they run pretty smooth. I was playing back some other videos today on YOUTube in comparison and found the same thing was happening to those videos while there were pan and zoom shots. So, what can I assume?

These are the specs to my computer from October...anyway is it possible you might know what I should be looking into?

                        Thanks

would getting the adobe flash pro make a difference?

I doubt it. It rather seems the problem is in the machine. I don't have a Mac but the symptoms sound similar so you may wish to look for the Mac equivalents for the suggestions in the following article.
