Sorry this is my first post here. I've searched high and low both in the forums and on the web but I found nothing similar to my situation.
When I create a new project and after I create a Sequence or press the Cancel button, Premiere Pro just freezes with no sign of responding. The same goes with opening of the created project after a fresh loading of the application.
I have tried everything found in the various documents (uninstalling/reinstalling Premiere Pro, uninstalling/reinstalling QuickTime, updating Premiere Pro, among others) but the same problem persists. The other Adobe applications I use save for After Effects (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) all work fine.
System Specs (it's a laptop BTW)
Intel Core i5 - 2430M
Windows 7 Home Basic SP1 64-bit (it's unclear in the system requirements which editions of Windows 7 are supported by Premiere Pro CS5 and CS5.5)
4 GB DDR3 RAM
1 750 GB HDD (2 partitions: 320 GB and 430 GB)
NVIDIA CUDA-supported video card (GeForce GT 540M 2 GB video RAM)
Is Premiere Pro only supported on desktops and in higher editions of Windows 7?
I don't think that card meets MPE hardware acceleration spec.
You need a dedicated hard drive for media, a partition won't cut it.
Your ram is low for HD editing.
That said, it shouldn't crash every time you start a project. Uninstall and run the adobe cleaning tool before re-installing.
The only thing that comes to mind is that you do not have sufficient patience to let PR load a project. That system is so slooowww, you better get a cup of coffee or more before deciding it has quit on you.
