I have been trying to get a HTML ToolTip to dislay in an ActionScript component. I have been trying this guide without luck (it works in an MXML component). I normally create my ToolTip in an .as file as follows:
protected var tTip:ToolTip; tTip = ToolTipManager.createToolTip(toolTipText , point.x , point.y) as ToolTip;
but when I change it to:
protected var tTip:HTMLToolTip; ToolTipManager.toolTipClass = HTMLToolTip; tTip = ToolTipManager.createToolTip(toolTipText , point.x , point.y) as HTMLToolTip;
My tTip is always null. Does anyone have any ideas why it would fail in ActionScript, or have another guide that works? I have tried several guides without success.
I now have this solved using the custom PanelToolTip which shows how to replace the ToolTip on the ToolTipEvent.CREATE with an custom ToolTip defined in MXML. The MXML naturally allows for any sort of mark up, incliding images, links etc. and makes for the perfect solution.
