Questions regarding .ai files are better asked in the Illustrator forum ... http://forums.adobe.com/community/illustrator/illustrator_general
That is, unless you meant those are Illustrator files placed inside an InDesign document or something like that.
Ok yes I did exactl that
The type was set in Illustrator? Go back to Illy and see if it is set to overprint. 20% K overprinting wouldn't do much more than show as a shadow against a background.
Are your colour settings the same across your adobe products? if not, do so through Bridge.
Might be a bit left field... but hey
I opened an Illustrator doc and created type and boxes all with
various matching screens.
The type doesn't maintain the screen UNLESS - I change them to outlines.
Very odd eh
You'd better go step by step and tell us how th e files are made, and how the get into ID.
open illustrator or In design either one.
type in any type.
change the screens
I kept it pretty simple for the tests I was doing. This one happens to
be in illustrator.
Here is a sample. The top row has all the fonts outlined
we are printing cmyk files to a xerox machine I have actually changed
all 42 files to make it work
but still would like to know why I had to do that?
We cant see your samples -- attachments don't work. You can use DropBox or YouSendIt (send the file to yourself) and post a link here.
And you haven't said what you are doing to put the file into InDesign? I thought you said several posts back that you were printing from ID, not Illustrator. If you don't answer the questions we ask, we probably can't help you.
I am simply typing and drawing not importing
Is that what you are asking?
So you are not using InDesign at all? As Jongware said in the first post, if you have a problem with Illustrator, though we might be able to help, this is the InDesign forum and you would be better off posting in the Illustrator forum.
correct. but when I turn it into outlines it does.
