1. Re: still no user preferred Catalog Settings preference in LR4
Lee Jay Feb 3, 2012 12:41 PM (in response to BradKaye)There's quite a simple workaround. Create a new catalog and change its settings to the way you want them. Then copy it. Use it as the target of your catalog swaps.

2. Re: still no user preferred Catalog Settings preference in LR4
BradKaye Feb 3, 2012 12:54 PM (in response to Lee Jay)I know that workaround. I don't need workarounds, I need it to save my preference. It's simple that way.
More importantly, I need other people I work with, who aren't as savvy in this program to be able to do things simply as well. So if I set up a catalog a certain way, that system won't be undone because somone else hasn't done the simple workaround.
I have 325,000 edited images in my master catalog.
I manage 50,000 image shoots from dirty locations on my MacBook Pro. I deliver jobs on 6TB drives. I need help, not more hinderences.

3. Re: still no user preferred Catalog Settings preference in LR4
Lee Jay Feb 3, 2012 1:25 PM (in response to BradKaye)Okay, but since yours is the first request I can remember hearing for this, it might not carry as much weight as one that many were asking for.

areohbee Feb 3, 2012 6:13 PM (in response to BradKaye)Another workaround for the mean time:
- Edit the Lightroom preference file (e.g. Lightroom 4 Preferences.agprefs) and change the defaults.

5. Re: still no user preferred Catalog Settings preference in LR4
Victoria_Bampton Feb 4, 2012 3:39 AM (in response to BradKaye)It's a request I've heard on a regular basis, mainly among working pros who are using a catalog for every job. This forum is primarily focused on the new features and bugs in the beta release, so it'll be closed when the beta finishes. The best place to get your requests considered is the Feature Request forum http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family because others can also add their votes so Adobe can see which requests are most popular, and the requests can be easily tracked. They stand a much better chance of getting attention there too.

Kiwi-Al Feb 6, 2012 5:58 PM (in response to BradKaye)If you have not already entered a feature request as Victoria suggested, please do. I will vote for it. Victoria also has posted her suggestions for writing a request so that it does get attention.
