I had adobe premiere element 9 working perfectly on seven and I was able to import avie file. But my laptop crash and I had to reinstall seven and all my software and premiere .
And now I can't import avi file I got the following error
The type of file is not supported or the required codec is not install
I don't know why I got this error now and not before because I didn't install any codec when it was working!!
Well, an AVI file can contain almost anything. It is very likely that this particular AVI file has something odd inside it.
This ARTICLE will go into more detail, and tell you how to peek inside to see what's contained within.
Good luck, and please let us know all about that AVI file.
Finally I just installed QuickTime again and it worked!
Great. PrE has a heavier reliance on QT Player, than might be expected.
Thanks for reporting your success. My guess would be that your AVI file is a wrapper for H.264, which is oddly becoming more common. Wish that camera mfgrs. would not do that.
