I'm a student who recently bought the creative suite for my new Mac Book Pro (with Lion installed), and all of the programs work except InDesign. It starts to open but before it actually does it crashes EVERY TIME. I've tried starting it up in safe mode and even reinstalled it. It stopped working when I still had the trial version one day and hasn't worked since, and I'm still not sure what the problem is. I'm not very technology savy so I've been too afraid to mess around with the actual file. If anyone has any suggestions, i would be very grateful. I can post the crash report, but i've heard those aren't very helpful anyways...
Try creating a new user on the computer and starting indesign under that user, this will tell you if its the user account or indesign itself
Wow, I can't believe that worked! But if it is the user account that is messing with it, do you know how to fix it or how to find what exactly is causing this? I guess at the very least there is some way to get this to work!
Easiest way maybe to reinstall the software but there are other steps you can take like trashing the preferences
But before you do trash them it would be a good idea to save any PDF export Presets and Printer Presets, Document Setups & Keyboard shortcuts, this trashing losses all of them
Reinstall should be your last avenue not your first!
