    Working with DVCPRO HD

    media kat Level 1

I have a HVX200 and am considering trying out CS5.5

How does 5.5 ingest the footage? What does it convert the footage into?

      Thanks.

Premiere Pro loves DVCpro HD ......and edits it natively. (No conversion)

Ingest the files directly from the P2 Folder

            1. What does that mean? Can I drag the contents from a P2 card directly to my desktop and just ingest it from the desktop?

            2. Does it do anything with the footage? Any compression? Anything?

            3. Does it play back smoothly in the timeline?

            Thanks!

Premiere Pro has a Media Browser Window and that is an ideal way to ingest from the Source files.

It is best to be more organised than just dumping the P2 Folder on the desktop  because you do NOT want source files on the OS drive.

It edits the source files natively.

With an appropriates specced puter (set up properly)  DVCPRO HD is as silky smooth as it gets.
