# Shape tweening sticks

So here's the video I'm traing to rotate a vector.. I know i could make it a symbol but I want to edit those "Anchor points" after converted, if i convert it to symbol i won't be able to edit it right?

• ###### 1. Re: Shape tweening sticks

what's wrong with using a shape tween with shape hints?

• ###### 2. Re: Shape tweening sticks

I want to rotate the shape..

• ###### 3. Re: Shape tweening sticks

then rotate it.  use shape hints to control the tween.

• ###### 4. Re: Shape tweening sticks

I mean i want the others to see the vecctor rotating..
Make the vector rotate in the swf but shape tweening doesnt do the job

• ###### 5. Re: Shape tweening sticks

use a combination of shape and motion tweens if you need by adding your shape to an object (that rotates).

• ###### 6. Re: Shape tweening sticks

So I have to convert the vectors into symbols?

• ###### 7. Re: Shape tweening sticks

no, you can leave your vectors alone but nest the vector inside a movieclip, for example.  you can then tween the parent movieclip and tween the vector using two different tweens to achieve what you want.

if you next inside a third parent (grandparent), you can apply 3 tweens etc ad infinitum.  but i don't see why you'd need more than 2 tweens for what you want.

I want to do a stick figure. that walks by moving the anchors and the handle

What do you mean by nesting vectirs in a movieclip? (well I tried doing that when I convert it to a movie clip I couldn't preview it while working at flash file plus it continusly moves.) (When i convert it to movieclip it is like a symbol!)
How? you do that? Is there a video or a tutorial to achieve what are you saying?

Btw http://www.swfcabin.com/swf-files/1328714804.swf Shape tween doesn't do a good job

thanks

i don't know of any tutorials or videos that show how to create complex timeline tweens.

Well can you please screenshot it OR explain step by step.. ?
Isn't converting to movie clip making it a symbol anyway?

• ###### 11. Re: Shape tweening sticks

you don't convert it to a movieclip or anything else.  leave a vector.

the vector shape's parent is a movieclip.  you can tween your vector shape (child) and independently tween the parent (movieclip).  the result will be both objects tweening simultaneously.

if your shape is complex you may need to distribute sub-shapes to several layers and tween each sub-shape independently in its own layer.

shape's parent?

• ###### 13. Re: Shape tweening sticks

yes.  create a movieclip.  add a shape to frame 1 of the movieclip.  add a keyframe to frame 22 of the movieclip.  change the shape.  add a shape tween.  use shape hints, if needed.  distribute subshapes to different layers and tween each layer, if needed.

add the movieclip to the main timeline's frame 1.  add a keyframe to frame 22 of the main timeline.  rotate the movieclip.  add a motion tween.  test.

But I cannot preview it in place. Wait I have to create a movieclip for each movement he does?

What if i want to attach them together (to make an esqueleton of the stick) that would make the symbols, so i owuld have to attach it lot's of symbols because each symbol is 1 movement?

search for some tutorials and see if you can gain enough experience to understand how to accomplish what you want.  i'm pretty sure you're not going to find a tutorial that does exactly what you want but if you gain enough expertise you should be able to understand my last message.
