I ahve a number of text fields etc... which have restrictions on input using regular expressions.
I get errors on these fields from the flex validators and I want to localise these validator messages.
I've googled it a bit but haven't really found anything definitive.
I was hoping to be able to just localise some properties in a file but it doesn't seem to be that simple.
Any help would be appreciated.
btw, I'm only on Flex 3
For anyone else that may stumble across this.
The problem lay with the SDK resource bundles.
I setup my other locales using the copyLocale command and had all my custom translations in my own properties file.
In my opinion the documentation around the copyLocale command is a bit sparse. copeLocale basically copies all the proerties for one locale to the target.
This includes, day & month names, date formats, currency symbols, first day of week... and the text for the built-in validators.
These all need to be localised also.
The localised files can be found at...
There are a few ways to do this. You can use copyLocale to create the SWC's. Then edit the framework SWC (using WinRAR for example), remove the existin property files and add these property files to the archive. Or alternatively, compile each set of property files into its own SWF and load the resource modules at runtime for the selected locale.
