If you are using DW's code, did you remember to upload the "Scripts" folder that DW creates when you insert the movie? If you have and it's not working you may need to post a link to the page in question.
There is a scripts folder on my server that matches the one locally (do I need to re-upload this every time I publish the page with the video file? I also select to "put" dependent files when I do publish). The link for the the page is www.julesproductions.com/reel.html. Thank you for the reply! I appreciate the help.
From what I see the flv file is missing. Julia_Blakenship_Demo_small.flv is not on your site.
Okay. Do you mean the file is missing from the code or on the server? When I have tried to publish the page to my server, most of the times the file is skipped. (I have tried to just put the file by itself and it doesn't work either). I talked to my host and they said that everything looked okay on their end, so I am not sure what I need to do to fix that.
File is missing on the server. What do you mean the file is skipped? Before you transfer the file next time in DW click on Site->Advanced->FTP Log and see what comes up if it is failing.
This is what showed up the last time I tried to "put" the file to the server:
The file "/julesproductions/Julia_Blankenship_Demo_small.flv" was skipped.
Also, in the FTP log, there seems to be some DELE commands happening on the server side. For example:
> CWD /julesproductions
< 250 CWD command successful.
> DELE Julia_Blankenship_Demo_small.flv
< 250-You are using 9.0% of your subscribed disk space
< 250-You have 4550.467 MB of space available
< 250 DELE command successful.
Is this something that I need to talk to my webhost about?
So I called my webhost this morning. They didn't see any problems with my code and wasn't sure why there seems to be a glitch between the server, dreamweaver, and my file. Upon their recommendation, I ended up using FileZilla and uploaded the .flv file to my server. It worked. Thank you for all of the help. I appreciate the responses!
Jules, there was never anything wrong with the code the problem was the flv upload. It seems really odd that DW would not upload one particular file. I'd keep an eye on the uploading activities and stay in touch with your host in case future problems arise.
