Gareth_Williams Feb 10, 2012 1:12 PM (in response to Zeno Bokor)Hi guys, thanks for your help. I am trying to work out which is the tab key (I have an Apple keyboard) none of them are labelled as tab. I do have some palettes up just not the ones I want. The Layers palette is present, the History pallet is there and I can get a few others by going through the “Window” menu.

Gareth_Williams Feb 10, 2012 1:30 PM (in response to Muppet Mark)Thanks Mark, I did work that out after my post, but as I said, I do have some pallets just not the ones I want. That button just hides all palettes. How do you get the pallet with effects and colour swatches?

8. Re: Photoshop Cs5 Pallet Chaos!
Muppet Mark Feb 10, 2012 1:46 PM (in response to Gareth_Williams)Well that could depend on how you last had them docked to each other… If they were grouped calling any one of the from the view menu should bring back all the cluster… Otherwise see if you have done anything with the workspaces…

9. Re: Photoshop Cs5 Pallet Chaos!
Noel Carboni Feb 10, 2012 1:49 PM (in response to Muppet Mark)The arrangement of your window and panels is called your "workspace". The buttons at the upper-right in Photoshop's main window select from some preset workspaces. You can also define your own and name it.
You've already been to the Window menu. Try clicking on some of the entries there to see the panels you want to see.

10. Re: Photoshop Cs5 Pallet Chaos!
Gareth_Williams Feb 10, 2012 1:52 PM (in response to Muppet Mark)Thanks for helping me Mark. “View” menu doesn't bring up palettes that is the “Window” menu. To the best of my memory I had the colour swatches and effects on the same cluster with one other thing which I can't remember. I will add a list of the pallets I can get in a minute.

11. Re: Photoshop Cs5 Pallet Chaos!
Noel Carboni Feb 10, 2012 1:54 PM (in response to Gareth_Williams)Note: If you don't like the arrangement of the panels, drag them around by their little tabs. Then name your workspace as I have said, so you can get back to it by name.

Gareth_Williams Feb 10, 2012 2:03 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)Hi Noel thanks for your help, I can't arrange anything until I get the palettes up in the first place. These are the ones I can get, the others have just disappeared. They are grouped according the window they are in.
layer, channels, paths
navigator, histogram, info
brush presets, brush, clone source
history, actions
animation, measurement log
I need the effects and colour swatch palette. Thanks for your help

Noel Carboni Feb 10, 2012 2:08 PM (in response to Gareth_Williams)As far as I know there's never been an Effects palette in Photoshop. Perchance do you have Photoshop Elements?

18. Re: Photoshop Cs5 Pallet Chaos!
Gareth_Williams Feb 10, 2012 2:15 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)just to answer your question Noel when I click Window - Style or Window - Swatches, I just got the pallete with »
navigator, histogram, info
brush presets, brush, clone source
I couldn't quite understand why … and yes there is an effects pallet in Photoshop it is actually called “styles” though (my mistake).
Thanks agian guys

19. Re: Photoshop Cs5 Pallet Chaos!
Jeff Arola Feb 10, 2012 2:16 PM (in response to Gareth_Williams)Glad you got it.
You should probably follow Noel's advice and save your own workspace, so if that ever happens again, you can just press the name of your workspace to get everything back in order.
