Did you reinstall the applications clean on the new sytem, or attempt to migrate them? If you didn't install from scratch, uninstall and do it now, then post a new creah report on Pastebin.com and put a link here if is is still crashing.

Hmm, that stack isn't too helpful.

            But:

            Version:         7.0.3.535 (7030)

Please upgrade to 7.0.4.553. Post the revised stack trace if you still get a crash.

It would be helpful to have the whole thing, please upload it to http://pastebin.com/ rather than posting it here, though, becuase it is too long.

Get back to us after you install the 7.0.4 update...

Well when i go to Help - Updates from within the programme i get this screen:

                  Screen shot 2012-02-13 at 16.23.29.png
Telling me all the software is upto date.
If i locate 7.0.4 on the adobe site and download 'AdobeInDesign7_0_4Patch-All.dmg' and then try to run it, it tells me:
                  Screen shot 2012-02-13 at 16.31.34.png
And about Indesign, just to prove im not mad!

Is this a special localization, like ME or CE edition?

I did a serach and found a simialr, though not exactly identical, failure. It was remedied by downloading and installing the new version of the application manger. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4774

Brilliant. Downloaded and Installed the new Download Manager and it still said that my software was upto date in the Help  - Update section.

However, upon installing the downloaded 7.0.4 updater, that worked and we now have v7.0.4 of Indesign.

Its the end of the day here in the UK so ill see how we get on tomorrow with the updated software

                          Thanks Peter

Not really -- each one seems to be different.

                            Hopefully 7.0.4. will be...more consistent?

Well its been excellent all morning with no crashes.

I had 19 documents open at one point without an issue (well i had to push it didnt i) and was saving 5 PDFs off in the background without an issue either.

Just when i thought we were ok i got a crash, heres the report:

                              http://pastebin.com/Qs8Es9NS

                              Any ideas.

To be honest i can work with 1 crash a day compared to the one every 15 mins i was getting before.

This crash is associated with your Triple Triangle plugins. Normally I would just try to get you to run without them, but in your crashes from yesterday, some were in Triple Triangle and others were not. So I guess we need more information. Here's your crashing thread:

I've [attempted to] color code this. The reddish color is Apple's code, relating to the operting system's job of managing the graphical user interface and handlign a keypress and sending it to the right window. The blueish color is the MechCubed plugin, part of Triple Triangle. The black is InDesign.

Read from the bottom up. InDesign (frame 48-51) lets the OS handle what to do, and the OS gets a keyboard event and calls back (frames 28-47) to InDesign which proceses the keypress (19-27) and hands it to Triple Triangle (frames 14-18). Then there is some window visiblity change (did you press a key in an inactive panel at the time of this crash?) in InDesign (11-13), which calls out to the OS to make some change (say, changing the display of the window). Then the OS crashes.

So, it could be an OS bug, but more likely the OS was told to do something it couldn't or shouldn't do — given an unexpected input, that is — and then crashed.

So, in further crashes, look to see if com.adobe.InDesign.MechCubed is present near the top of the stack trace of the crashing thread.

Thanks John. Ive forwarded this on to the IT dept here and hopefully we can get this over to Triple Triangle.

Next crash i will make a note of what i was doing.

In the meantime we will update another crashing Indesign 7.0.3 to 7.0.4 (on the same build but different m/c) but without Triple triangle (for the moment) and see what happens.

Ill keep you posted, thanks for your time.

To remphasize, it is hardly a smoking gun for Triple Triangle. It could well be their fault, but it might not. And since you have non-TT crashes in your original case, there is reason to suspect they are not at fault.

Anyone having trouble with InDesign CS5.5 crashing on startup after installing OS Lion....

                                      please do the following:

                                      1. Run Uninstall on InDesign CS5.5

                                      2. go to your User/Library/Preferences and delete the folder called "Adobe InDesign" this will be invisible after loading Lion.

so you'll have to show invisibles by going to your terminal window and typing

                                      open terminal and type:

                                      defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

and now relaunch finder by typing

                                      killall Finder

                                      done.

                                      3. Re-install InDesign CS5.5 and it will work.

Thanks so much John and Peter.

Upgrading to v7.0.4 has seemed to fix everything and we have now rolled that update out over 6 of the studio macs that had this issue.

So nearly a week now and not a single crash - great news.

                                        Thanks so much guys

I had the problem of ID crashing after upgrading to Lion. This is what solved my problem for anybody who is at a loss.

"A couple days ago I asked Why my InDesign is Unresponsive after installing Lion & I wanted to share what the answer was. (I couldn't for the life of me add to my previous discussion -couldn't find a Reply button)

Anyhow...after wiping out my computer & doing a clean install by an IT person, InDesign was still Unresponsive. Somewhere along the line we were able (ha ha) to get an error that said I need to install Java RunTime. Apparently this is not included in Lion & is needed to run InDesign.

Hope this might help  others out there experiencing this problem"
