Well depending on what you will be running on the server, I usually suggest some kind of AMF (Data Services) set up. Most likely you will be able to get a fairly cheap Virtual Private Server (VPS) that will be able to handle PHP and/or Java. There are many 3rd pary options out there for these technology stacks, but the projects supported by adobe are:
Cheers and good luck!
I would like to read a php file and retrive the data's from database (online) in order to populate my tablet's application.
In the past, I used effectivelly amfphp and service-config.xml to do a request. But since flex 4.5 and Zend framork provided with, I'm using only this one.
I'm gonna check the first link (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/crud_flex_php_zend.html) and maybe with this one I could create my connection.
I don't understand one thing...
There are different type to do a connection between Flex and PHP.
Which one is the best ?
1. With AMF (Flex : service-config.xml, RemoteObject) (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/crud_flex_php_zend.html)
2. With Zend Framework (Flex : Callresponder, Time,...) already included in Flash Builder 4.5 (http://devzone.zend.com/1701/flex-and-zend-framework_part-1/)
3. With Zend Server and Flash Builder 4.5 with PHP (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash-builder/articles/flashbuilder-php-part1.html)
It's three differents approach but in 2 & 3, it's auto configured with Flex.. however to do a connection between Flex Mobile & PHP (online), I have to use the solution 1
So, if somebody can help me to explain and understand the difference between that.
Any method to access a remote AMF service should work just fine on a mobile application.
