Where is command for 'return to start'?
The Home key.
Welcome to the forum.
Do you mean, "how do I use a keyboard shortcut to get to the start of the Timeline, or 00;00;00;00?" If so, click in the Timeline Panel, and then hit the Home key. That will take you to 00;00;00;00, and move the CTI (Current Time Indicator w/ the red Edit Line, i.e. also referred to as the Playhead), to that TimeCode.
Three other useful keyboard shortcuts on the Timeline, are the PageUp and PageDn keys, that will take you forward/backward, one Clip at a time, and the End key, which will take you to the very end of your Timeline.
Good luck, and hope that helps. Also, if you want something else, please give a few more details, on what you wish to do.
Hi, Bill H,
Thanks for unexpected quick, personal reply. As an 85-year-old using an Intel iMac, OS 10.6.8 with a short aluminum keyboard, I seem to have trouble following instructions. Simple things—like, where is the HOME KEY? The Home icon in the top right of the monitor does not get me back to 00.00.00.00. There must be a better way than typing 00.00.00.00 in the
I'm using Premier Elements 10, and use the symbols under the active scene to move to either end end of clip. My project includes the use of TWO cameras, so there is a lot of transitioning in the timeline.
Currently I'm trying to reduce almost two hours of church service to 4GB of space, asnd need frequent returns to the start.
On an iMac aluminum keyboard, the Home is located two keys to the right of the Delete (Backspace) key, right next to Page Up.
We are almost contemporaries, but you have one on me - I am a PC-only guy, and do not know much about an iMac keyboard. However, Steve Grisetti IS a dual-platform guy, and has an iMac. He can tell you exactly where to look on your iMac's keyboard, for the exact shortcuts.
Now, you can click on the TimeCode in the Program Monitor, and type in "00000000" to get to 00;00;00;00, but a keyboard shortcut will be quicker.
