I am completely new to After Effects and want to know the best way for animating a graphic that appears to drop onto a flat surface and then bounce a little, with the bounce decaying.
I need to do this in the Z direction.
I have got the bounce working with an expression but cannot make it decay plus I need the effect to last less time than the graphic appears on the timeline.
I would be interested to hear your ideas.
It's a fairly common effect. You only need to add the decay function to the expression or use a script. One of the expression wonks will jump on this in a few minutes or hours so a wee bit of patience. Meantime, though, you can search for several of the AE script and expressions exchanges.
Wait, are you sure it's not in the library that comes with AE? It's a math function in the prebuilt expressions, I think. Sorry, not at my AE machine at the moment.
Thanks, Todd. I figured Gerard would be all over this.
He must be making money this week!
